I went to Knox College and in 1971 married a woman I met there. I was stationed in the service on the West Coast and liked it, and have pretty much stayed in the Northwest. We had a son in 1977 and a daughter in 1980. He's now an EMT in Portland and she's in college at Lake Forest. I got a law degree from the University of Washington in 1976 and have been working for Indian tribes in the Northwest for most of my career. I now represent the Klamath Tribes in south central Oregon in a regional water rights dispute that has gained some national media attention.

My wife Becky is a midwife with her own practice here in Klamath Falls, a town of about 30,000 people. We are now astonished to find ourselves having spent more of our lives here than anywhere else.

We had what we consider a life adventure in the '80s when we spent several years in Micronesia, a tiny island group half way between Honolulu and Manila. It was an experience that changed us considerably, and one that we'd like to repeat somehow. But repetition seems to always be in the much-talk-but-no-action category. [Jul2001]
