Loving retirement, traveling a lot. Looking forward to attending the reunion and visiting my old home town. Been to Europe several times, often sailing on Star Clipper fleet sailing ships, to include an Atlantic crossing. When at home a little golf and have taken up "geezer" tennis. [Aug2016]

Retired from judging this spring and moved to South Florida.  Loving retirement.  Plan on playing golf, tennis, and traveling like a fool.  Hard to believe its been almost 50 years! [Sept2013]

I am still a judge in New Mexico, but moved to Federal Court three years ago as a US Magistrate Judge.  I am finishing up with the military.  I am a Brigadier General serving as the Special Assistant to the Judge Advocate General of the Army for the National Guard.  I retire from that in September '06.  My hobbies continue to be travel, beer, rum, and Jimmy Buffet, not necessarily in that order, but often in combination.  Hope to attend the reunion in August.  Would be great to hear from any old friends.   [Apr2006]

I've been a widow for 18 months and my diabetes is out of control so I'm just hanging around home reading books, watching movies and spending time with friends and family. I go out to lunch with friends. Parties for my grandkids and doctors appointments. Kind of dull but I enjoy it. Will enjoy seeing everyone at the reunion.  [July2016]

Retired RN.  We both love to go to ballgames, read, play cards, go walking and fishing.  [July2011]

Hooray. I just retired from teaching in May of 2016. I haven't had a spare minute since then. Steve and I are going on a trip to Alaska in August to celebrate. We hope to travel more. Steve still farms near Bellflower, IL. He is the third and last generation of Kuntzes to farm there. We lived there for 39 years and have since moved to a beautiful place with 4 acres including a pond. We love spending time with our daughter, Melissa and our son, Bart. We have three grandchildren who bring us smiles and laughter. Although we lost our daughter, Emily, 7 years ago, we see so many traits that she had in our granddaughter, Riya. Our lives have been enriched by how close we are to our son-in-law, his wife, and Riya's sister. Having patience and looking for the good things everyday of our lives has allowed us to find a new kind of happiness. God bless all of you!   [June2016]

Linda Schultz KIMMEL,  Grear   ë
1508 Dawson
Champaign, IL  61820

We've both been retired for quite a while now -- Linda from the Champaign public schools, Grear from the University of Illinois. Health is good, allowing us to enjoy traveling, bicycling, and hiking. Our daughter Julie lives in the Philadelphia area with her husband Grant Alger and our granddaughter Clara. Life is good for the Kimmels.  [July2016]

Life is good for the the Kimmels.  2011 has been a busy year filled with mostly good opportunities that come to the fortunate.  We're both retired.  Grear left his University of Illinois communications job in 2005 and never looked back.  (I seem perfectly suited to retirement--seem to possess the right skill set.)  Linda left teaching in 2004, but retirement was a process for her.  She retired, went back as a substitute, then taught half-time for a couple of years before finally 'accomplishing' retirement.  We like Champaign and find plenty to do here.  We are active in community life and enjoy the cultural and educational opportunities one finds in a university town.  But we find ourselves away from home more and more lately.  Our recent travel has been mostly domestic.  We particularly like active get-aways: bicycle trips and hiking expeditions are among our favorites.  We are frequent visitors to the Philadelphia, PA area, home of our only daughter, her husband, and our granddaughter--a beautiful 7-year-old genius.  Linda's mother passed away in January of this year.  Many of our classmates will remember Louise Schultz as their Home Ec teacher at Washington Junior High School.  Her Dad, Chet Schultz, driver education teacher at Rocky when we were all there, lives at Friendship Manor in Rock Island.  So all is as it should be.  We are lucky to have good health and good things to do.  Best wishes to all our Rock Classmates!  [July2011]

I am married with two grown children.  In 1999, I finished my Masters in Early Childhood from WIU in Macomb.  I've been teaching Pre-K for thirteen years and love it.  I am doing workshops to mentor others in developmentally appropriate practice, which takes some time, but the effort is well worth it.  I am also on the Board for a preschool in town and am quite involved with church activities.

I have been trying to learn how to use the computer, especially since one of our children is working in Europe.  I bought a camera for the computer to do video conferencing but am still figuring out how to use it.  Other than that, my mind is still sound.  My best to everyone!  Love, Barb   [Jul2001]

I have been in Chicago for 46 years now. Wow! Still enjoying all the city has to offer. I worked as an advertising graphic designer for 30 of those years. Still working...on my golf game. Still NOT working on getting married. My girlfriend Pat and I were recently in Barcelona for 2 weeks. Traveled to Cuba and Italy over last few years. I recently got a new hip and have been trying my hand at being a snowbird in Arizona. Seems to be working. Looking forward to seeing our fellow Rocky grads in September. [2016]

John and I got married in 2002 - he has six kids and I have three and ten grandchildren: Michael (Carey)Elise and Aidan in West Bend, WI; Andrew (Nicole)Jack, Megan, Sophie, Lucy (deceased), and Natalie in West Grove, PA; and Emily (Benji) Stella, Jacob and May in Minneapolis. I retired last year after 25 years as Senior Lecturer at University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, teaching Composition (Expository Writing, mostly argument/research). John just retired from St. Norbert College, teaching art. He has his own classes and a home study drawing/art curriculum (www.newmasters.com). We live about 30 miles SE of Green Bay on 20 acres doing the organic gardening, chickens and (occasional) pigs thing. John's an enthusiastic Packers fan, and I'm a Packers fan who does not like football. [2016]

My husband's name is John Gordon, and we got married just four weeks ago.  I'm a lecturer in Composition at University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, which means I teach students how to research and write college papers (and how to use semicolons!).  I've also taught some humanities courses.  I have three grown children (all moved out and away from Packer Country) and one grandchild.  John has an art school and also teaches drawing part-time at St. Norbert College.  [Jun2002]

Love being retired. The only problem I have with retirement is: YOU NEVER GET A DAY OFF. Sadly, my wife of 45 years died unexpectedly in 2013, but thankfully I have found a new love in my life. Travel to South Africa in 2014 and Italy this year. Still try to play golf, but acting has taken up most of my time. [July2016]

Career change in 1989 to the Music Business.  Became Vice President of Legendary Concerts, and in 1995 Vice President of Leas Campbell Presents.  Have been a national concert promoter since that time and have brought many concerts to the Mark of the Quad Cities, including The Moody Blues, The Beach Boys, Willie Nelson with Waylon Jennings and Tammy Wynette, and Tina Turner.  Recently completed my fourth United States tour with blind Italian tenor, Andrea Bocelli.  Have received many awards, however, the most meaningful to me is receiving the Key to the City of Dothan (Alabama) with Bob Dylan for a Hurricane Relief Benefit in 1995.   [July2001]

Still working full time as a pediatrician. Two sons, Sam and Ben. Sam is a rabbi and Ben is a pediatrician. I hope everyone is having the life that they had dreamed of. [Oct2016]

So far, I have been a lucky fellow and have had a good life.  I have two sons, one is a Rabbi and one is a Physician.  I continue to work full time and enjoy medicine as much as the day I started practice.  I think of Rock Island with the fondest of memories.  It was a good place to grow up.  I hope all my classmates have as much satisfaction and joy as I do.  I wish everyone the best.  [July2016]

I have two sons who are the joy of my life.  The oldest is in the seminary studying to be a Rabbi and the youngest is in medical school.  I guess I have one who will kill them and the other will bury them!  Me, I am still practicing pediatrics and love what I do.  I hope everyone is having a wonderful life.  [July2011]

Can't wait to see everyone and re-connect. I continue to enjoy retirement and the time just flies by. Two years ago I lost two brothers just 2 weeks apart, Larry and John. John my twin lived with me his last year here on earth and we enjoyed that time together so much. My family is fantastic and the 16 grandchildren I'm blessed with are so special. Yes, I'm a proud grandma. It's hard to believe it's our 50th Class Reunion but I'm so looking forward to it. God Bless America and keep all our children safe. Love to travel, mostly by car and seeing the great USA! [July2016]

My husband and I live in an upscale recreational lake community where we have volunteered for many years. We love living on Fyre Lake and have all the toys for guests and family. I'm glad that we bought our retirement home when we were young. I like trying different types of artistic venues. I own the Copper Canvas and I did copper repouse for a number of years. I did several gallery shows, and the Festival of Trees. Currently, I've been painting everything - even the roof of our house once. My next project is to repaint our tennis court back board and earlier this summer I painted a tarp with a pirate flag on it, and when hoisted it almost moved off its moorings. The pirate party followed, and anyone not dressing like a pirate had to walk the plank. Every Christmas I write a new Christmas story for children. I've been doing it for almost 20 years and not only self-publish them, but always include a gift that relates to the story. My friends and family look forward to this quirky tradition. The first year, I gave everyone a silver plated pine cone for "The Perfect Christmas Tree" story, which is still my favorite. Since we retired, I only try to do things that make me happy. I love to practice random acts of kindness every chance I get and I hope that it brings me good Karma.  [Aug2016]

This is my first reunion; don't remember what I've already listed for the booklet. Here's up-to-date info. I taught in Oregon for 17 years, owned a book store in Portland for 14 years, and, for the last 12 years, have taught at Concordia University (graduate level Children's Lit overview class) and with the Bureau of Education and Research (BER) out of Bellevue, WA, where I've taught everything from "Boys and Reading" to the "Best Books of the Year" class. I married Steven in 1999; he had six kids (I married the entire Brady bunch!!) and we now have 4 grandchildren and another on the way. I have had some health challenges; most recently, I am fighting ovarian cancer and winning the battle, but it means that I have had a recovery year and am not currently working. I love the Northwest and am so glad that I followed my sister Christine out here when she went to Lewis and Clark College in 1969. It's been a great 50 years for me!  [July2016]
