Karen Weisenborn Collins

Karen Jean Collins, 68, of Rock Island, passed away Friday, Dec. 23, 2016, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Visitation will be from noon to service time at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow at Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be left in Karen's name for her family.

Karen was born on July 7, 1948, in Hannibal, Mo., the daughter of William L. and Mary "Virginia" Hamilton Weisenborn. She married Merwin "Butch" Collins on May 25, 1968.

She was a graduate of Rock Island High School and later Black Hawk College.

Mrs. Collins had been employed at Davenport Electric Contract Company for many years.

Karen loved spending time at home, cooking and hosting family gatherings. She enjoyed her sewing club friendships and collecting recipes. The love and dedication Karen showed to her children and grandchildren was extraordinary.

Survivors include her husband, Butch; children (and spouses), Douglas (Karna) Collins, Dallas, Jennifer (Tom) Kyriazopoulos, Roscoe, Ill., and Mandy Collins, Rock Island; grandchildren, Carter, Mason, Quinn, Aaron, Katy, Nathan, Elly, Shaylin, Kayla and Ava; brother, Clayton (Brenda) Weisenborn; and sister, Barbara (Mike) Murrin.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
