Kathy Thomas Cutkomp

Kathy R. Cutkomp, 66, of East Moline, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 24, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601 38th Ave., Moline.  Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.  Per her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded following the services.  Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association and the MS Society.

Kathy was born June 16, 1948, in Centerville, Iowa, to Arnold and Elaine Grindle Thomas.

Kathy graduated from Rock Island High School in 1966.  She worked at the Fort Theater, where she met Lonnie.  She later worked at the Longview Market in Rock Island.

She married Lonnie Cutkomp on Oct. 13, 1967, in Milan.  After they married, Kathy was a homemaker and helped raised their two children, Nancy and Christopher.

Later in life, Kathy suffered from a stroke believed to be multiple sclerosis, causing her to become wheelchair bound.  Kathy was later diagnosed with Frederich's Ataxia at Rush Medical Center in Chicago.

Kathy loved to do ceramics and needle point prior to the progression of her disease and to spend time with her grandsons, Ian, David, and Jaxon.

She is survived by her husband, Lonnie, East Moline; children, Nancy (Mike) Johnson, East Moline, Christopher (Crystal) Cutkomp, Rock Island; grandchildren, Ian (Malia) Muske, Aledo, David Cantu and Jaxon Cutkomp, both of Rock Island; sister, Sherry (Bob) Baker, Moline; brothers, Tommy (Bonnie) Thomas, Sherrard, and Barry Thomas, Eldridge; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Nancy; a brother, Ricky Joe; a nephew, Tarry Jay Baker; and numerous aunts and uncles.
