Joanne Olson Mueller

MOLINE – Joanne Jo Marie Mueller, 70, formerly of Moline, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Dec. 10, 2018, at Brandel Health and Rehab, Northbrook, Ill.

Jo was born in Moline on July 14, 1948, to Carl H. and June M. Bolin Olson. She grew up in Rock Island and graduated from Rock Island High School. She met the love of her life, Clarence Mueller, while working at John Deere Plow Works and married him on April 18, 1970.

Jo was a lifelong member of First Covenant Church in Moline and loved serving there as a Sunday school teacher and high school youth group leader for over 20 years. She was involved in Covenant Women Ministries, serving on the conference board and planning retreats. Jo served the church as the Christian Education Director for many years before retiring in 1999. In their early retirement, she and Clarence accepted a call to serve at Christian Friendliness' Camp Summit as caretakers and food service directors. Her love of the Lord and joy in serving Him touched innumerable lives. She was known as Mama Jo to many of those to whom she ministered and loved.

Left to celebrate her life are her son, David J. (fiancee Holly Barnes) Mueller; daughter, Kristine M. (Kurt) Barker; and grandsons, John and Paul Barker. Also surviving are her siblings, Robert L. (Betty), James R. (Susan), Rev. Donald C. (Gabrielle) and Jan L. (Nancy) Hensley-Olson; as well as her siblings-in-law, Rev. Gilbert, Rev. Howard (Joyce) and Stanley L. (Dorothy) Mueller; sister, Jane A. (Gary) Harroun; and many nieces and nephews.
