Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. The Rev. Dan Cullett with Edgewood Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be at Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery.
Ronald was born on Sept. 6, 1948, in Princeton, Ill., the son of Russell and Dorothy Desramoudt Nelson. He married Deanna Rombout on July 12, 1975, in Moline.
Mr. Nelson had been employed at Monroe Center Hospital, Monroe, Wis., as a physical therapist. He retired in 2007.
Ronald was a member of Park Hills Evangelical Free Church, Freeport.
He is survived by his wife, Deanna; mother, Dorothy Nelson, Rock Island; and his dog and best friend, Pugsley.
Ronald was preceded in death by his father, Russell; brother, Scott R. Nelson; and sister, Rene Sweeney.
