Cycle Accident Kills Rock Island Sailor

Communications Technician 2.C. Gregory L. Ingold, 23, of 1033 16th St., Rock Island, died Wednesday, January 19, 1972 from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident in the Philippines.

The young sailor was stationed at San Miguel Naval Base in the Philippines.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Wheelan Funeral Home.

Gregory Lee Ingold was born April 3, 1948 in Rock Island, a son of Leland and Bonnie Bower Ingold.  He was graduated from Rock Island High School in 1966 and enlisted in the Navy in 1967.

He married Wanetta E. Lang March 19, 1968 in Reno, Nev.

Survivors include the widow, a daughter, Amy Lynn, at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Ingold, and a sister, Melinda, all of 1839 29th St., Rock Island; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Austin Bower, Rock Island; and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Howard Ingold, Milan.

Funeral services for Communication Technician 2.C. Gregory Lee Ingold, 23, of 1003 16th St., Rock Island, who was killed in a motorcycle accident in the Philippines, were held this morning at St Pius X Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. E. E. Gould officiating.  Burial was in the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal, with full military honors given by the U. S. Naval Reserve Training Center, Davenport.

Pallbearers, all members of the training center, were CMG 1. Robert Morris, EM 1. Wendell Rausch, CS 2. Russell Koenig, PN 2. William McNein, SK 2. Michael MacDonald and YN. 2 David Purdy.
