Larry Hammond

Lawrence A. "Larry" Hammond, 72, of Milan, passed away Saturday December 5, 2020 at his home, surrounded by his family.

Livestream services will be 1:00pm Thursday and may be viewed at www.wheelanpressly.com/milan-live-stream. Drive up visitation will be from 12:00pm to 1:00pm Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. The staff will direct you as you arrive. Please stay in your vehicles. Private graveside service will be at Rock Island National Cemetery, with Military Honors by Milan American Legion. Memorial donations may be left to the Milan American Legion.

Larry was born on February 3, 1948 in Rock Island, the son of Lawrence W. and Kathryn (Kelty) Hammond. He married Linda L. Groom on September 17, 1966. He was a United States Army Veteran having served in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne.

Mr. Hammond had been a drywall contractor and later been employed at Jordan Catholic School, Rock Island.

He was a member of the Milan American Legion and several veteran organizations.

Larry loved spending time with his family, playing with his grandson, fishing, and building radio controlled planes.

Survivors include his wife, Linda; son and daughter in law, Bill and Amy Hammond, Milan; grandson, Tanner and a couple foster granddaughters; sisters, Sandra, Laura, Roberta, Christa and Barbara.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Thomas and Tony Hammond; brother, Joe Hammond.
