Frank Eckhardt

Frank Lee Eckhardt, Sr., 72, of Davenport, passed away Friday, January 22, 2021 surrounded by the love of his family. Per his request, cremation rites have been accorded. Private interment with military honors at the Rock Island National Cemetery will be held at a future date. The Runge Mortuary and Crematory assisted the family with arrangements.

Frank was born in Rock Island, Illinois on March 11, 1948. He was the son of Frank W. and Edith (Blunck) Eckhardt. He worked at Eagle Warehouse prior to retiring in 1997. Frank served our country in the Army and was a proud Vietnam Veteran. He was united in marriage to Cindy Marland on November 3, 1979. They later divorced but remained friends.

Known as a teller of tall tales, Frank was best known for sporting his excessively large collection of cowboy hats and vests, and making people laugh even in his final days. He loved talking with his siblings on the phone and the daily visits with his children and Cindy, which brought him much comfort.

Those left to honor his memory include his children: Michelle Taylor (Dennis Manary), Tonya (Timothy) Mongeau, Anthony "TJ" Marland, Mandy Marland, Joshua Eckhardt (Jessie Ness), and Frank Eckhardt, Jr.; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; siblings James (Sharron) Eckhardt, Robert (Carol) Eckhardt, Sandy (Robert) Scheel and Jo Ann (James) Nelson; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Kenneth Eckhardt and a grandson Thomas Taylor.

Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or a local animal shelter.
