Michael Cutkomp

ROCK ISLAND - Michael Cutkomp, 70, passed away peacefully at his home in Pontotoc, Miss., on July 28, 2018. A memorial service in his honor will be at New Hope Church, 2305 7th Ave. Moline, at 2 p.m. Sept. 20, 2018.

Mike was born in Rock Island, on March 27, 1948, the son of Margaret and King Cutkomp. Mike graduated from Rock Island High School and attended Augustana College. Growing up, he worked at the family business King Produce, Rock Island. After moving to Pontotoc, he worked at Walmart in Tupelo. This was a job that he really enjoyed.

As a youngster, Mike enjoyed playing sports, especially Little League and Babe Ruth League baseball. He was involved in many school activities. Those who knew Mike, understood his devotion to his many friends and their families. He was always there for you in your time of need, either on the phone, in person, or through the mail. All of his friends enjoyed his sense of humor. Mike was not particularly humorous when discussing politics, however. This was a passion for him in later life. He enjoyed outdoor activities, and made every effort to maintain his daily workouts in his favorite gym.

Mike is survived by his many friends, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother, and a dear friend, Jan Tacey.

Memorials may be made to the Two Rivers YMCA (youth programs) or to a favorite charity of your choice.
