Jeanne Cox Ahlf

Jeannie Lynn Ahlf, 60, of Port Byron died Friday, Sept. 21, 2007, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Countryside Christian Church, Port Byron.  Burial will be in Zuma Township Cemetery, Port Byron.  Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Gibson Funeral Home, Port Byron.  A memorial fund has been established.

The former Jeannie Lynn Cox was born Aug. 30, 1947, in Chicago, the daughter of R. Earl and Thelma Owen Cox.  She married Myron C. Ahlf Oct. 20, 1967, in Moline.

She was currently the director of RICAP.  She was a board member and past president of RICAP, was the past president, vice president, secretary/treasurer of the Rapids City Youth & Community Center Committee, was the coordinator of RCYCC softball programs, a softball coach for RCYCC, had been a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader, and coordinated the concession stand at Illiniwek softball diamonds.  Jeannie was a Zuma Township Trustee, Zuma Unit HCE president, HDC county board member/chairman of ways and means, had been an election judge, was a member of the Port Byron Friends of the Library, and was a George O. Barr school volunteer.  She had sold Tupperware and Stampin’ Up.  Jeannie enjoyed going out to eat with family and friends but most of all enjoyed her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Myron; a son and daughter-in-law, Myron Jr. and Jessica Ahlf, Silvis; a daughter and son-in-law, Toby and Pat Murphy, East Moline; a sister-in-law that Jeannie raised, Mary "Vicki" Deppe and her husband Scott, Mahomet, Ill.; grandchildren, Lauren, Mitchell and Jacob Murphy, Jamii and Brandon Ahlf; her mother, Thelma Cox, Moline; sisters and brother-in-law, Deedie and Dave Legler, Rapids City, and Dora Lou Brooks, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and brothers and sister-in-law, Cary Cox, Orion, and Terron and Pat Cox, Moline.  She was preceded in death by her father, Earl Cox.
