Harold Brown

Services for Harold Albert Brown, 49, of 2702 117th Ave. Ct. W., Milan, are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hodgson Funeral Home Ltd., Rock Island, Reverend Paul Showalter officiating.  Burial will be in a local cemetery.

Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Monday.  Memorials may be made to Milan Little League or Rockridge Baseball Program.

Mr. Brown died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, at home.

He was born March 5, 1948, in Rock Island, the son of Albert Brown and Dora G. Cook Brown.  He married Joanie Flaherty in November 1973 in Milan.

For the past 18 years, he had worked for Deere & Co. P.D.C.  Prior to that, he had been an officer on the Milan Police Department and also on the Milan Auxiliary Police Force.

He was very active in Milan Little League; was a baseball umpire; and was involved in Legion Baseball.  He was Jr. Varsity baseball coach at Rockridge and assistant Varsity Coach for Baseball.

He was on the Safety and Fire Brigade at Deere & Co.

He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, and country music.

Survivors include sons, Timothy R. Brown, Milan, and Erik M. Brown, Taylor Ridge; sisters, Emma Rickard, Milan, and Linda Demos, Chicago; brothers, Robert Painter, Villa Park, Ill., and Nicholas Painter, Rock Island; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
